CONTENTS AND DESCRIPTION
Guyot was Blair Professor of Physical
Geography and Geology, College of New Jersey. It contains his best
information on many physical aspects of the Earth as known towards the end
of the 19th Century.
His introduction finishes with the hope
that the 10 years he devoted to the work, would serve to introduce 'a method
of instruction more rational than that of mechanical memorizing'.
In addition to the maps, there are
numerous in-text wood engraved views & other prints.
Numerous tables and statistics are
included in a thorough but readable book.
