Thomas ALLOM. (1804-1872) was a founder member of
the Royal Institute of British Architects. He travelled extensively in Europe &
Asia and produced a large array of fine topographical views.
His amazing eye
for architecture is reflected in the great care and detail with which
each view has been drawn. Many of the pictures include fascinating
figures, children, fashions, boats, farm animals, cattle, horses,
coaches, fox hunting, sheep,
castles, stately homes, churches, cathedrals, busy street scenes,
landscape scenery, etc.

A fine series of prints
depicting the City of the Dreaming Spires in the first part of the 19th
century.
John Le Keux (1783-1846) also produced
Memorials of
Cambridge, in similar format.
Detailed and attractive views,
with good detail of the architecture,
of many of the famous University Colleges as well as Public Buildings, the Cathedral,
Street scenes, Etc. Many of the pictures includes Dons in Gowns & Mortar
Boards, some show the rural nature of the environs at the time by
including farm animals, such as cattle and sheep and charming old
cottages.
