Jones, Emrys

Emrys Jones (1920-2006) was a Welsh Professor of Geography at the London School of Economics between 1961 and 1984, and an internationally influential author and consultant in the fields of human geography and urban planning. He is considered to be the founder of the field of Social Geography, as exemplified by the many fascinating thematic maps published under his direction in "The Atlas of London and the London Region" (1968), including the two notable maps showing the distribution within London of migrants from Ireland and the Caribbean.
