Vuillemin, Alexandre

Alexandre Vuillemin (1812–1880) was a prominent 19th-century French cartographer renowned for his richly illustrated atlases. His maps are particularly noted for their decorative use of vignette views depicting cities, landmarks, and cultural scenes, blending geographic precision with artistic flair. Vuillemin published a wide range of atlases, many of which appeared in multiple editions and continued to be updated and reissued after his death. Notable works include Atlas Universel (1839, 1847, 1871), Atlas de Géographie Ancienne et Moderne à destination des Pensionnats (1843), Atlas National Illustré de la France (1845), La France et ses Colonies: Atlas Illustré (1858, 1870), Atlas du Cosmos (1867), Atlas Topographique de la France (1873), and Atlas de Géographie Contemporaine (1875)
