The Phillimore Atlas & Index of Parish Registers is a practical tool for family historians, mapping historic parishes, the dates their registers begin and the church jurisdictions that held them. Edited by Cecil R. Humphery-Smith, the 1984 edition represented here was published in Baltimore by the Genealogical Publishing Company. English county sheets are joined by Welsh regional maps, and London, the Yorkshire ridings and the Isles of Scilly each receive their own treatment. These are modern reference maps made to explain older records, and they show why a historical parish may lead beyond a modern town or county boundary to the place where baptisms, marriages and burials were recorded.
