'Sion Village: all events occurring in the houses'
An original epidemiological map of Sion Village, now part of Mumbai, summarising the plague evidence recorded in occupied houses and in buildings containing sentinel guinea-pigs during 1906. It distinguishes premises in which infected rats or plague deaths demonstrated infection from houses that remained apparently unaffected, thereby showing both the progress and the limits of the local epizootic. Investigators observed that infection moved slowly through the rat population and failed to reach some neighbouring buildings. Produced during the Third Plague Pandemic, which had affected Bombay since 1896, the map is an early and unusually detailed attempt to define an epidemic spatially at household level. Originally published in the Journal of Hygiene in 1907 and reissued by Cambridge University Press in 1911, this map formed part of the Indian plague investigations, which supplied systematic experimental and epidemiological proof of the rat–flea–human chain of infection in bubonic plague.

Packing
Items smaller than A4 size are usually packed in a stiffened, board-backed envelope. Larger items are rolled and packed in postal tubes. Large items which are too stiff to be rolled in wide-diameter tubes are mailed in all-board envelopes. In the unlikely event of damage in transit, please send the affected item or items back to us and we will provide a replacement or refund.

Returns
We accept returns for any reason if sent back to us within 14 days of receipt of your order.
