'An Artist’s Interpretation of Middle Earth (including the Wild Lands - east, south & north)'
An Artist’s Interpretation of Middle-earth (Complete map of the continent of Endor) by Peter Fenlon, Charlottesville, VA: Iron Crown Enterprises (ICE), 1982. Offset lithograph, c. 90 × 60 cm. A landmark fantasy map charting the entire continent of Middle-earth, extending far beyond the familiar north-western lands shown in Tolkien’s own cartography. Produced by Peter Fenlon to support Iron Crown Enterprises’ Middle-earth Role Playing (MERP) system, it integrates core canonical regions — Eriador, Rohan, and Mordor — with the lesser-known southern and eastern territories only hinted at in Tolkien’s legendarium, unifying them within a coherent continental framework. The decorative border and bold mid-1980s palette lend strong display presence, while the gridded layout and clear labelling reflect Fenlon’s game-oriented approach to geography. A rare and sought-after full-continent interpretation that expands and contextualises Tolkien’s world: a key collectible for both Tolkien scholars and RPG enthusiasts.
