Charles Booth assisted by Jesse Argyle, Ernest Aves, Geo E Arkell, Arthur L Baxter, George H Duckworth. Charles Booth (1840–1916) was an English philanthropist and social researcher. He is best known for his innovative survey documenting London working class life at the end of the 19th century (most famously through his colour-coded poverty maps of the city of which this is one suh map). This work influenced government intervention against poverty in the early 20th century and led to the founding of Old Age pensions. He popularised the concept of the "Poverty Line".

Good; suitable for framing. The map is printed to the edges of the page without a border, as published; The key/legend is printed on a tab on the left hand side, as published. The left hand edge of the map itself is slightly creased (the creasing extends only c2-3mm inside the edge of the map). The map bears a discreet library stamp in the bottom right hand corner; the stamp is located around 30mm from the bottom egde of the map inside the grey area. Evidence of the cancellation of the library's ownership can be provided on request. The title of the legend along the left hand side bears a number of pin marks where it was rebound into a book. Packing

Items smaller than A4 size are usually packed in a stiffened, board-backed envelope. Larger items are rolled and packed in postal tubes. Large items which are too stiff to be rolled in wide-diameter tubes are mailed in all-board envelopes. In the unlikely event of damage in transit, please send the affected item or items back to us and we will provide a replacement or refund.

Returns

We accept returns for any reason if sent back to us within 14 days of receipt of your order. If any of your items are not as described, we will provide a full refund including reasonable return postage costs upon safe return to us. If you have changed your mind, you are responsible for the cost of returning the item to us. We describe the size, age and condition of all our products as fully and accurately as possible.
