'Carte Vinicole du Département de la Gironde'
Féret & Fils’ own 1921 issue of its authoritative wine map of the Gironde, distinguished from later promotional variants by the publisher’s imprint and date in the title panel. The colour key divides the department into the historic districts of Médoc, Graves, Pays de Sauternes, Côtes, Palus and Entre-Deux-Mers, with wine-growing villages and châteaux shown within the road, railway and river networks. It records Bordeaux’s wine geography before the modern AOC system formalised appellation boundaries. At lower right is the dated ink stamp “H. J. Hamande / 26 Jan 1929 / Bordeaux”. Contemporary evidence connects Hamande with the Bordeaux wine trade, giving the stamp pertinent commercial provenance rather than merely anonymous ownership. With original folds, scattered foxing and several more pronounced brown stains; the principal cartographic detail remains clear.
