An exceptionally large Second World War site plan of Gloster Aircraft Company’s Factory No. 1 at Hucclecote, printed at 1:500 and dated within the image ‘C.F.J.K., 4th Nov. 1941’. Reproduced as a blue-violet diazotype or whiteprint, it records the works’ buildings, shelters and surrounding structures at the height of wartime production. The site is now occupied principally by the INVISTA industrial complex, Ermin Street, Brockworth, GL3 4HP, immediately north of Gloucester Business Park. Gloster produced 2,750 Hawker Hurricanes here—about 21% of British and 19% of worldwide Hurricane production—and virtually all 3,330 Hawker Typhoons, making Hucclecote one of Britain’s most important fighter factories. The company also developed Britain’s first jet aircraft, the experimental E.28/39, whose construction began at Hucclecote before dispersal to Cheltenham; this led to the wartime Gloster Meteor, the Allies’ only operational jet fighter. Post-war production included Meteors and 436 Javelin all-weather jet interceptors. Aircraft production ceased in 1964; the works were subsequently sold and redeveloped. Historic England records the complex as a Luftwaffe target in October 1940.

Packing
Items smaller than A4 size are usually packed in a stiffened, board-backed envelope. Larger items are rolled and packed in postal tubes. Large items which are too stiff to be rolled in wide-diameter tubes are mailed in all-board envelopes. In the unlikely event of damage in transit, please send the affected item or items back to us and we will provide a replacement or refund.

Returns
We accept returns for any reason if sent back to us within 14 days of receipt of your order.
