[Henry Frederick "Harry" Boyle. Medium pace bowler. Australia cricketer] Came to England with the first Australian Team of 1878, with the advantage of a high reputation won on the cricket fields of Australia. The first match he played in London, satisfied the English public of his ability. The memorable victory over Marylebone Club and Ground at Lord's, was, it will be remembered, in a great measure the work of SPOFFORTH and BOYLE. On that occasion, BOYLE of the two it deserves to be recalled, had the better figures. In many of the best performances of the earlier Australian Teams he played a very conspicuous part. A medium pace bowler, with great judgment as well as precision, he required very careful watching on the very best wickets. Of singular resource, changing his pace and pitch well and never losing heart when he was hit, he was quite one of the most reliable and trustworthy bowlers Australia has sent to England. With any amount of pluck, he was a splendid field no matter how close to the bat. As a batsman he wanted a lot of getting out, and made runs frequently when the majority of his side had failed
