Hitlerowskie obozy jenieckie na ziemiach polskich w latach 1939–1945 [Nazi prisoner-of-war camps on Polish lands in the years 1939–1945]
Published in 1979 by the Polish Commission for the Investigation of Nazi Crimes, this map shows the distribution of German POW camps (including Oflag, Stalag, and Dulag types) across occupied Poland. The legend distinguishes between officers’ camps, enlisted men’s camps, camps for airmen and naval personnel, transit facilities, and labour detachments attached to POW installations. Inset panels provide enlarged detail for regions with especially dense concentrations. The sheet illustrates the scale and organisation of the German prisoner-of-war system holding Allied and Soviet captives. The map includes Stalag Luft III (Żagań), perhaps the best known camp to hold Allied prisoners, scene of "The Great Escape" of 1944.
