Set before the Palais des Tuileries, the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel gave nineteenth-century engravers a ready-made composition of arch and palace. Antique prints of 1831 and 1845, the later from Bicknell, show the monument with the palace behind it, while a plate of 1835 pairs it with the Château d'Eau. A numbered plate of 1895 is devoted to the arch alone.
