Marshal Tallard taken prisoner and four thousand horse driven into the Danube are among the scenes that kept the Battle of Blenheim, won on 13 August 1704, before engravers and mapmakers for generations. Fought near Blindheim and Höchstädt in Bavaria during the War of the Spanish Succession, it saw the allied armies of the Duke of Marlborough and Prince Eugene defeat Franco-Bavarian forces. A Latin plan of Höchstädt from 1710 records the town where the battle was fought, and Claude Du Bosc's plan of 1736 appears alongside prints of the same year, including the capture of Tallard. Later treatments include an 1880 print after R. C. Woodville's picture exhibited at the Royal Academy and a battle plan of 1907.
