Boynton, George Washington

George Washington Boynton (1809-1884), born in New Hampshire, was Boston map engraver. He engraved maps for various publishers including Thomas Bradford, Nathaniel Dearborn, Daniel Adams & S.G. Goodrich. His work included engraved copies of manuscript maps and land surveys originally surveyed by George Washington himself, published in "The Life of George Washington". He apparently also invented a diving bell.
