The gas, electricity and water services running beneath central London's busiest streets are laid bare in these plans by J. W. Bradley, an unusual look below the carriageway. Bradley, credited as city engineer, supplied the material through Alderman T.W.L. Emden to the Royal Commission on London Traffic, and HMSO published it in 1906 in the commission's sixth volume, devoted to maps and diagrams. The street sheets follow Victoria Street, Whitehall, Piccadilly and Regent Street. A further group on the Strand sets the services under the road beside sections of a proposed tramway subway and station, recording the obstacles that any scheme to move traffic underground would face.
