Leicestershire's country houses form the heart of the prints from Jones' Views, the London publication of 1829 by Jones and Co. recording the seats, mansions and castles of noblemen and gentlemen. John Preston Neale was among the credited draughtsmen, with M.J. Starling engraving after him and a castle plate credited to J. Grundy. Carlton Curlieu, Donington, Langton, Lowesby, Whatton, Baggrave, Coleorton and Wistow halls appear alongside Kirby Muxloe Castle. Leicester itself is represented by the West Bridge and the remains traditionally called the Temple of Janus, and Coalville by a church, parsonage and school.
