Kent's Battle of Britain, the D-Day fleet off Sussex and radar and medical achievements elsewhere are among the wartime stories told county by county in these pictorial maps from John Waddington Ltd. Conceived by Donald McCullough and designed by Ernest Clegg, the sheets were issued in the closing years of the Second World War and just after it. Training grounds in Wiltshire and Northumberland, farm work and national service also feature, and the credits name associations with the Women's Land Army and the Countryman. With decorative lettering and commemorative text, these are maps of remembrance rather than road atlases.
