'Dalmatia and Austro-Italian Frontier'
"The coast of Italy's hopes and fears": Hammond's map of the Adriatic, from Venice, Trieste and Istria down the Dalmatian coast to Montenegro and Albania, with the Trentino, Bosnia and Serbia beyond. The caption notes that almost every good harbour lies on the Austrian side, and the red Armistice Line of 4 November 1918 shows where the fronts stood when Austria-Hungary collapsed: across the Trentino and Venetia, and again along the Danube and through Serbia and Montenegro. Relief is tinted from sea level to the high Alps, with railways and provincial capitals. A frontier Fiume would keep in the news. Printed across two pages, conjoined
