SKU
'Perigrinatie oste Veertich-iarige Reyse der kinderen Israels. Uyt Egypten door de Roode Zee, ende de Woestyne tot in't beloofde Landt Canaan'
The map is orientated towards the west, with the Mediterranean shore of Israel/Palestine at the top, with the Dea Sea and the Sea of Galilee shown inland. The Nile Delta is shown top left, and the Red Sea on the left hand side. The map depicts the Exodus of the Israelites out of Egypt into the Promised Land of Canaan. Scenes from the Exodus are shown along the bottom including in the centre Moses receiving the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai. The Exodus route taken is shown on the map itself. The shape of the Gulf of Aqaba is copied from La Rue (1651 AD) who in turn copied it from Munster (1545 AD). The crossing point of the Red Sea is at the Port of Suez (point 3) and the Mount Sinai is marked as point 11. The sailing ships are leaving Elath (Eilat).
