SKU
Ducatus Electorat et Principat Ducum Saxonaie prout illorum conditio hodierna est geographice consignati per Phil. Henr. Et Frid Zollmann in lucern prelati ab Homannianis Heredibus Geographis Norib MDCCXXX[I?] [The Duchies, Electorate and principal dukes of Saxony (Sachsen) in their present condition is consigned to geography by Philipp Heinrich & Friedrich Zollmann and into the light of the prelates by the heirs of Homann, geographers of Nuremberg, 1730 (or 1731?)]
Coats-of-arms in side panels. Large title cartouche at lower right, surmounted by a king or emperor sitting on his throne pointing at an inset scroll map of the river Elbe between Dresden & Leipzig. A banner proclaims "Caeasaris Augustus", and the map is stated to be with the privilege of the King of Poland. Although slightly anachronistic with the date of publication printed on the map, we believe the seated figure to be Augustus III, King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania from 1734 until 1763, as well as Elector of Saxony in the Holy Roman Empire from 1733 until 1763 where he was known as Frederick Augustus II (Friedrich August II). The map covers the present-day German states of Saxony & Thuringia, with part of Saxony-Anhalt, including Leipzig, Dresden, Wiemar, Erfurt & Magdeburg
