[George Gibbons Hearne. Left-arm round-arm medium pace bowler. Kent cricketer] The eldest of the three brothers who have done such good service for Kent, G. G. Hearne's record as a Cricketer has been alike useful and honourable. A cousin of WALTER HEARNE and brother of FRANK and ALEC, who have both been actively associated with Kent., G.G. differed from the latter in that he was left-handed both as a bowler and a batsman. For over fifteen years he was one of the most useful Cricketers in the Kent Eleven. A batsman with great defence, if at times uninteresting to watch, he was none the less of the greatest value to the side by his watchful cricket. A fast bowler if not quite in the first class, he was at times very effective, especially when the ground helped the ball. A member of the ground staff at Lord's for several years, he has been scoring well for the club this summer
