'L.M.S. 3rd Class Steel Flush Sided Brake Compo.'
An unusually practical post-war modelmaker’s blueprint for building an LMS flush-sided third-class brake composite coach in OO gauge. The sheet combines the coach elevation with roof, floor and underside plans, construction details, bogie and coach sections, and instructions for cast ends, lithographed paper sides, celluloid glazing, ventilation, solebars, battery boxes, dynamo and vacuum brake. Drawn at 4 mm to the foot and dated 16 January 1948, it was intended for use with Hambling-Merco lithographed papers and records the mixed-media methods—card, paper, celluloid, cast metal and soldered brass—used by skilled model railway builders immediately after the war. It documents both the appearance of an LMS Period III flush-sided coach and the workshop culture of early OO-gauge modelling. Strong white lines against the deep blue ground also give the technical sheet considerable decorative appeal.
