Dated eight weeks after Pearl Harbor, this Japanese magazine spread maps Oahu under the triumphant headline "Annihilated Military Installations". The artwork closely follows Ruth Taylor White's 1930s American tourist maps, so sampans, pineapple fields and palms now surround Pearl Harbor, Schofield Barracks, Fort Kamehameha and the Diamond Head battery, relabelled in Japanese. The author, a member of Japan's RIKEN institute who had spent eighteen months in Hawaii, recalls exclaiming "They've done it!" when the radio announced the attack. The reverse maps Kauai as "The Fortress Guarding Pearl Harbor". Published in Shūkan Asahi on 1 February 1942, it presents the attack's target through Japanese eyes. We have found no other example offered by a Western dealer. Toned, with a central fold and binding holes.

Packing
Items smaller than A4 size are usually packed in a stiffened, board-backed envelope. Larger items are rolled and packed in postal tubes. Large items which are too stiff to be rolled in wide-diameter tubes are mailed in all-board envelopes. In the unlikely event of damage in transit, please send the affected item or items back to us and we will provide a replacement or refund.

Returns
We accept returns for any reason if sent back to us within 14 days of receipt of your order. If any of your items are not as described, we will provide a full refund including reasonable return postage costs upon safe return to us.
