[Robert Peel. Middle order batsman. Yorkshire cricketer] For fifteen years PEEL has been an important personality, not only in Yorkshire cricket but in English Elevens in what the Australians are wont to call the "test matches." Succeeding another left-handed slow bowler of exceptional skill, PEATE, he proved his ability so unmistakably at the outset that his position in the Yorkshire Eleven has never been in danger. During the last ten years or more no English Eleven would have been considered complete without him. He has also been to Australia more than once, and in fact is almost as well known on Australian as on English cricket Grounds. A left-hand slow bowler with a very easy action and always an excellent length, he requires very careful playing, particularly as he varies his pace and pitch with judgment, and moreover gets a lot of work on the ball at times. He also bats left handed, and has been almost worth playing for his batting alone as he has excellent defence and is very difficult to get out. In addition he has always been and still is a splendid field
