'MBK et Miroir du Cyclisme presentent Le Tour 88'
The 1988 Tour de France covered 3,286 km across 22 stages, including a prologue. It was dominated by Pedro Delgado, who became the first Spanish rider to win the Tour in over a decade. Delgado’s strength in the mountains and solid time trial performances allowed him to take the yellow jersey in the Pyrenees and defend it through to Paris. Steven Rooks from the Netherlands finished second, with his consistent climbing earning him the polka dot jersey as the best climber. Third place went to Fabio Parra, the first Colombian to achieve a podium finish in the Tour. The green jersey for the points classification was won by Eddy Planckaert of Belgium, thanks to his consistent sprinting results. This edition is remembered for Delgado’s powerful rides in the mountains, the emergence of Colombian talent on the world stage, and extreme weather conditions during several stages that tested the endurance of the peloton.
