The Colosseum in Regent's Park turned London itself into an indoor spectacle: its great circular interior housed an enormous panorama of the capital, drawn from Thomas Hornor's observations at St Paul's Cathedral. The building was demolished in 1874. Thomas Hosmer Shepherd's views of 1828 show its domed form and monumental portico, one of them beside the lake in the park, and a print of about 1880 looks back to the building as it was in 1827.
