Coaching roads and a village schoolhouse frame Farringdon in Hampshire. Paterson's antique road strip maps of 1785 and 1803 show the village as the first stage after Alton on the road from London to Gosport, continuing through West Meon, Wickham and Fareham to Gosport and Portsmouth. A vintage print by Vincent Lines from 1949 turns to the village itself with its Old School-House.
