La Madeleine, whose Corinthian columns give it the look of a classical temple, closes the view at the head of the Rue Royale, and its prints follow the church from a site still being transformed to a Paris landmark. A pair of aquatints of 1808 show the old church and the projected new one. Later views look along the Rue Royale to the completed building, including a scene from the Paris Commune of 1871 with the tricolour flying over it, and a print of 1907 shows the Boulevard de la Madeleine. A plate of 1882 sets it beside St Eustache, Saint-Sulpice, Saint-Étienne-du-Mont and the Sainte-Chapelle.
