Stamford Bridge opened as an athletics ground in 1877 and became the home of Chelsea Football Club in 1905, and its prints catch both lives of the west London ground. An 1896 view shows the Scottish Gathering held there the year before, and a 1926 print sets the half-mile race beside a tug-of-war at Mill Hill. Football takes over with a 1926 scene of favours and match programmes being sold to the crowd, a sheet of London football grounds from the same year, and a seating plan of the reserved stand from 1937. A street map of 2000 places the stadium among Fulham Broadway, West Brompton and Parsons Green.
