Christian Gottfried Daniel Stein (1771–1830) was a German geographer and educator, teaching at Berlin’s Graues Kloster from 1795 until his death. He authored numerous works on geography and statistics, notably the Neuer Atlas der ganzen Erde (first edition 1814), designed for both schools and the educated public. Issued in Leipzig, it combined hand-colored maps with historical, political, and statistical tables. Expanding from 14 maps in its first edition to over 28 in later ones, it covered continents, major countries, and detailed European regions. The atlas, published through numerous editions into the late 19th century, became a standard reference in German cartography and education.
