Charles Goad Insurance Plan of London, sheet 198 [Tottenham Court Road, Great Russell Street, Bedford Square and the Dominion Theatre]
Goad's fire insurance plan of London, sheet 198, covers Bedford Square and Tottenham Court Road (WC1), with the Dominion Theatre at its heart. The Dominion was then a cinema, and it ran The Sound of Music in 1965–68 before returning to live theatre in 1981. The Central YMCA's Edwardian building was demolished in spring 1971, as the sheet went out of use, to make way for the brutalist block whose club closed in 2025. Congress House, which opened in 1958 with Epstein's war memorial, is still the TUC's headquarters, and the Kenilworth Hotel is still a hotel. The sheet also names Bedford Court Mansions and the college and laboratory premises on Great Russell Street. Made to assess property and fire risk, the plans were kept current with pasted slips recording new uses, altered layouts, demolition and rebuilding. The latest dated corrections, of September 1970, mark premises at the southern end of block 1882, on Tottenham Court Road and Bedford Avenue, as vacant. The sheet was resurveyed and reissued in September 1942, with a 1950 copyright date, and key plans acquired with the group were corrected as late as October 1970 and March 1971. Other streets on the sheet include Morwell Street, Adeline Place, Bloomsbury Street, Bainbridge Street, Dyott Street and New Oxford Street.

Packing
Items smaller than A4 size are usually packed in a stiffened, board-backed envelope. Larger items are rolled and packed in postal tubes. Large items which are too stiff to be rolled in wide-diameter tubes are mailed in all-board envelopes. In the unlikely event of damage in transit, please send the affected item or items back to us and we will provide a replacement or refund.

Returns
We accept returns for any reason if sent back to us within 14 days of receipt of your order.
