Horton is a village on the low ground beside the Colne, between Windsor and Colnbrook, and its one antique print records a house that had already gone: Place House, engraved in 1791, six years after it was demolished. Historically in Buckinghamshire and now in Berkshire, the village was described in old gazetteers as wooded and close to the county boundary, with part of Colnbrook inside its parish. Street maps of 1933 and 1937 place it among Langley, Iver, Richings Park and Poyle, and a vintage sheet of 1964 shows it with Slough, Langley and Datchet.
