ALPES-MARITIMES. France. The Carnival, Nice; Carnaval 1900 old antique print

Price: £5.99

CAPTION PRINTED BELOW PICTURE: 'The Carnival, Nice - Carnivals have always played an important part in the social-life and the amusements of the French. That of Nice is world-famed. Above we have one of the chief "chars" in the procession. Much artistic skill and ingenuity are expended in their design, and satire and topical allusions (note the "Mona Lisa" under the great figure's arm), are woven into the idea. The Mi-Careme procession in Paris is another popular and typical example of the "Carnival" spirit'
