Clay, Thomas

Thomas Clay (fl.1619) was a 17th century surveyor known for his manuscript 1619 map of the Parish of Tottenham, known as "The Dorset Survey". The map was named for Richard Sackville, 3rd Earl of Dorset, owner of the Manor of Tottenham, for whom Clay undertook the survey. The original plan, since lost, was still in existence in the 1800s when it was copied for inclusion in William Robinson's "History and Antiquities of Tottenham".
