Desnos, Charles-Louis

Louis Charles Desnos (1725-1805) was an 18th century French geographer & Parisian bookseller, where he kept a shop on rue Saint-Jacques. From around 1753 he manufactured and sold spheres and astronomical instruments as successor to Jacques Hardy, having married in 1749 the widow of his son Nicolas. He was appointed Royal Globemaker by the King of Denmark, Christian VII.  He collaborated with his fellow cartographers Zannoni and Louis Brion de la Tour (1756-1823), although his prolific production of published maps gained him a reputation among other cartographers as a publisher without scruples or discernment as to the quality or accuracy or copyright of his output.
