MacKenzie, Alister

Alister MacKenzie (1870-1934) is considered one of the greatest and most innovative golf course architects in the history of the gamne. A member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, he designed more than 50 golf courses across four continents including three that continue to feature in Golf Digest's Top 10 golf courses in the world: Augusta National Golf Club (on which he collaborated with Bobby Jones) and Cypress Point Club in the US, and Royal Melbourne Golf Club (West Course) in Australia. He charted the Old Course at St. Andrews in great detail and his resulting map of the course published in March 1924 remains well-known to the present day.
