Muirhead, Russell (Blue guides) - Vintage tourist maps including town & city plans - Page 16
We stock a wide selection of vintage tourist maps including town and city plans and other touring and leisure maps from the authoritative "Blue Guides" series of travel guidebooks. They were first published in 1918 by James and Findlay Muirhead (who had been the English language editors of the Baedeker guides), and later by Findlay's son Russell Muirhead. When the First World War disrupted their arrangement with Karl Baedeker, the brothers bought the rights to John Murray's well-known handbooks, and established the "Blue Guides" as heir to the great 19th century guide book tradition.
