A large, original map of the state of Florida dated October 31st, 1854, depicting the Everglades, Big Cypress, the Arredondo Grant, Forbes Purchase, Native American hunting grounds, and numerous forts extending south to Key Largo. The map includes detailed annotations related to US Government survey progress and township boundaries, offering a snapshot of the state's geographic and territorial organization in 1854, less than 10 years after the state's accession to the the Union, and at a time when it was still very sparsely populated.

CONDITION: Good; suitable for framing. Light spotting. The map was published without a lower left hand border and margin, which has been restored with loss of part of the printed border. Returns
