Hobson, Captain Samuel

Captain Samuel Hobson was listed as a Williamite rebel against King James in the King’s 1689 Act of Attainder - subject to confiscation of his property - but he lived to see the king beaten at the Battle of the Boyne and forced into exile. His great-great grandson William Hobson was the future governor of New Zealand and the virtual founder of that country. He is believed to have contributed the maps to Story's continuation of his "Impartial History of the Wars of Ireland" (1693)
