CAPTION PRINTED BELOW PICTURE: 'Oxford "So venerable, so serene, whispering from her towers the last enchantments of the Middle Age"'

Kerry Lee's Pictorial Map of Oxford is a vibrant mid-20th-century illustrated bird's-eye view that beautifully captures the charm of the historic university city. The decorative border features vignettes with the arms of each college, their founding dates, and depictions of notable alumni. The map highlights Oxford's iconic colleges and landmarks, including the Radcliffe Camera, Bodleian Library, and Christ Church Cathedral. Rendered in a whimsical style, the map includes playful illustrations of academic traditions, historic figures, and lively scenes, while text annotations add context with a touch of humor. Lee's creation serves not only as a navigational tool but also as a decorative celebration of Oxford's rich heritage. This is a later reprint of the map, likely circa 1960. Nuffield College (building completed 1960) is named; on the original 1948 edition this was prefixed with the words "site of" which are not present on this edition.
