'A New and Accurate Map of the Province of New York and Part of the Jerseys, New England and Canada, Shewing the Scenes of our Military Operations during the Present War. Also the New Erected State of Vermont' by John Lodge (October 1780). Antique copperplate map. The accompanying text article, originally published with the map, will also be provided, entitled 'State of our affairs in New York and Canada. Account of the new State of Vermont, declared an usurpation by the Congress. Account of the Province of New York, illustrated with a large and accurate map, being the only one ever published, in which the State of Vermont is laid down', 38.0 x 28.0cm, 14.75 x 11 inches; Please note that this is a folding map.

Scarce and fascinating Revolutionary War map showing part of the Theater of Operations. The map shows numerous roads, townships & forts. Vermont is marked as "The Hampshire Grants or the New Erected State of Vermont," with the Pulteney, Arlington and Bennington Townships indicated. Fort Stanwix is indicated to have been beseiged by the British forces under the command of Colonel (though in fact Brigadier General) Barry St. Leger in 1777; it is claimed that, when the Colonial troops refused the terms of surrender and raised the flag over the fort on August 3, 1777, it was the first time that the Flag of the United States was flown in battle. A large area of upstate New York is labeled "Hunting Grounds of the Iroquois or The Mohawk Indians, ceded to the English". The map delineates the respective territorial claims of New Jersey and New York, and the boundary line decided in 1719.
